Why do people just brush mushrooms with a towel?

Don't you think its nasty that some people don't wash the mushrooms they eat? They just use a piece of cloth to wipe off the dirt. The mushrooms are grown in cow poop@Why do people just brush mushrooms with a towel?
Mushrooms are like sponges, cleaning them with lots of water they absorb it and get soggy and bland.

The best way is to remove grit by wiping with a damp paper towel or special soft mushroom brush. For a more thorough cleaning, swish the mushrooms very briefly in water, and then pat dry with paper towels.

Nowadays a lot of mushrooms are cultivated in pasteurized substrates and don`t come in contact with dirt.
