I would say first off to get a synthetic broom if you're starting. Hair brooms require more attention, and if you're just beginning then the difference between synthetic and hair will not be that significant. I think all brooms are the same for everyone, it mostly depends on the ice condition.

any broom or brush is fine as long as it does it's job. no such thing as beginners broom/brush, more of a preference. for that you probably have to go through different kinds that suits you.....
Dollar store, can't go wrong.
choose 1 that u feel comfortable with.
people usually buy the cheapest available and then upgrade as they get better
